Barcelona official language is catalan although Spanish is also spoken everywhere.
What to eat in Catalonia
Bread with tomato, escudella(veges soup), snails, anchovies of l´Escala ... and all the dishes from the rest of Spain as: Spanisha omelette, breaded squid, paella, fried anxovy, Spanish ham....
Opening hours in restaurants
In Barcelona city center , you can eat at any time. For a la carte or menu restaurants, the kitchen is usually opened from 1pm to 3.30pm
Security
Barcelona is a fairly safe city. Beware of pickpockets. Avoid carrying backpacks on your back in crowded places and avoid leaving bags on the floor or next to you while you are sitting on a terrace, cafeteria, underground ... We advise ALWAYS carry them next to you all the time. Use the safety boxin your room and go outside with only a few money and no kore than one credit card.

In the center stores are open from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 9pm.
Shopping malls are open from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 10pm..
Banks are open from Monday to Friday from 8am to 2pm. There are currency exchange offices in Las Ramblas.
Tipping
Tipping is not expected, though welcome, especially waiters. It depends on the restaurant, it is left up to 10% tip. Normally if the service is good, tip is also good.
