The family

I would like to introduce you my family: my husband Eddy, my to kids janpol and Noah and myself. We have met different kind of persons over the last years and we keep something from each of them in our hearts.

The history of the family Grau-Fabregas begins with the opening of the Bar Centric in the year 1862. This bar was inaugurated by Mr.Grau´s parents. The name of the bar was chosen in a public peticion due to it’s good location.

Typical of those years was homemade vermouth and fried potatoes made by the grandmother Mercedes, owner of the bar. For a long time, this bar was a meeting point for many people that live in the neighborhood and artists.
The "Bar Centric" is also part of the literature and authors like Roberto Bolaño (Chilean writer) and Josep Plà (Catalan writer) have made reference to this bar in some of their works. The last transformation the bar passed in 2013 on behalf of  San Telmo Group. Now Centric Canalla  continues to be characteristic bar of Ciutat Vella, cosmopolitan and approachable.
Regarding the hotel Mr. Grau began his  business and passed it over to his son Félix Grau Torrents (that time lived in New York) and their daughter-in-law Lidia Robles.
In 1993 they reformed it and enlarged it.

At the moment their daughter Monica runs the place and the last renovation was in 2013, that transformed this small hotel  in unique place full of natural and ecological elements based on saving energy and sustainability. Not forgetting to maintain the place cozy, warm and familiar as it was.
Nowadays Hostal Grau is no longer the guesthouse that used to be. it will be in a few months, the first LEED certified hotel in Barcelona.

All the effort is never enough to make our guests feel like our hotel is their own house in Barcelona.

Thanks to you Felix ....Always in my mind and heart.
